Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has thanked the Christian community for their strong support during his campaign.

At a special thanksgiving and prayer service with Imams and Zongo Chiefs in Accra, he recognized the significant backing he has received from Christians, even though he is a Muslim.

“I have felt immense support from our Christian brothers and sisters throughout this journey. From the party primaries to my campaign across the nation, the support has been incredible and truly humbling,” Dr. Bawumia stated.

He reflected on his unique position, saying, “As a Muslim and a northerner in a party where most delegates are Christians and not from the north, I stood as the only northerner and Muslim against nine other Christians. The delegates supported me overwhelmingly, and I won by a historic margin.”

Dr. Bawumia also noted the continued encouragement from Christian leaders and the community since he became the NPP’s flagbearer, calling this support “equally overwhelming.”

He emphasized that the wide support from Christians showcases the unity and diversity of Ghana, which he aims to strengthen if he becomes president.

“This love and support from our Christian brothers and sisters highlight the beautiful diversity of our nation, which I am dedicated to enhancing as President, in shaa Allah. I am very thankful to all of them,” he expressed.

In his speech, Dr. Bawumia encouraged the Imams, Zongo Chiefs, and the Zongo community to back his presidential campaign as he aims to continue transforming the country.
