Ghanaians don’t have short memories, they still remember your abysmal record – Akufo-Addo to Mahama

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has told former President, John Dramani Mahama not to make the mistake of thinking that Ghanaians have forgotten his abysmal record. He said Ghanaians refused Mr Mahama a second term because of his poor delivery in office.

Speaking at the launch of the NPP manifesto in Takoradi on Sunday, the President said, “He (Mahama) says one thing today and another thing tomorrow because he thinks we have short memories and therefore don’t remember his record.”

Record of failure
President Akufo-Addo noted that apart from the late Mills who died in office and thus could not complete his first term, Mr Mahama is the only President in the 4th Republic whose first term was not renewed by Ghanaians. “With the exception of Mills who passed on in office in his first term, three of the remaining four presidents of the 4th Republic had second terms. It was only one whose record did not merit a second term . And this is the man who wants to come back to save his image . Mr candidate your record has not been forgotten,” he stated.

Golden ticket
President Akufo-Addo described the pair of Bawumia-Napo as “golden ticket”. The ticket, he said, will provide what Ghana needs “to move us to the next step“. “The pair will be worthy successors as President and Vice President,” he said.

Napo is an achiever
President Akufo-Addo posited that Dr Bawumia is going to be ably supported “by a young man who always impress me.”

“Matthew Opoku Prempeh is an achiever . Apart from implementing free SHS, he has worked hard under trying circumstances to put the energy sector on sound footing than we came to meet it,” he said.

Sell Ticket
He urged party members at all levels to make extra effort to go out and sell the golden ticket to make sure the NPP wins massively. “When the results are declared, we will hear the sweet news, the 6th President of the 4th Republic, Mahamudu Bawumia has won a decisive victory. When I hear that news then I am off to Kyebi for my retirement,” he added.
