NIB Operatives Storm MP’s Home Over Cocaine Flight Claims

Heavily armed operatives from the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) made an unsuccessful attempt on Wednesday to arrest the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, over allegations he made regarding ‘cocaine’ flights at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

Brandishing G3 and AK-47 assault rifles, the masked operatives surrounded the house of the MP, who has been a vocal critic of the Mahama government regarding the cocaine saga.

Allegations
Rev. Ntim Fordjour, who serves as the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, had claimed during a press conference last week that his group suspected some flights landing at KIA of being involved in cocaine trafficking and money laundering.

Following these allegations, government officials called for his arrest, arguing that he had failed to substantiate his claims.

Standoff
As predicted, armed operatives stormed the MP’s residence with the intent to arrest him, but the attempt ended in failure.

Rev. Ntim Fordjour was inside the house when the operatives arrived, but he refused to open the gates.

Amid the standoff, several NPP officials took to Facebook to share news of the attempted unlawful arrest and encouraged party supporters to gather at the MP’s house.

A large number of party supporters responded, and several NPP MPs, led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo Markin, also arrived to show their support.

Eventually, the Minority MPs successfully blocked what they described as an unlawful and politically motivated attempt by the NIB to arrest Rev. Ntim Fordjour.
