President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged the Prempeh College community to support one of their own — Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh — to become vice president by voting for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the December 7 elections.

Dr Opoku Prempeh, a.k.a. NAPO will be the first old student of the school to become Vice President if Dr Bawumia wins the election.

Prempeh College has produced a President in John Agyekum Kufuor, an old student of the school.
However, the school is yet to produce a Vice President and NAPO, a medical doctor by profession, stands on the threshold of making history.

This Speaking as the Guest of Honour at the 75th anniversary and Speech and Prize Giving Day of the school in Kumasi on Saturday, November 2, President Akufo-Addo said past and present students, teachers and workers of the school, all have a duty to support NAPO in this journey by voting from Dr Bawumia.

Workaholic and excellent politician
President Akufo-Addo described Dr Opoku Prempeh as a “workaholic” and an “excellent politician” who together with Dr Bawumia will work assiduously to address the infrastructural challenges the school communicated to him.

“Let me conclude by urging all of you to support the Vice Presidential candidature of one of your own, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South. The man NAPO, a workaholic and an excellent politician by voting for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“They together will tackle all the needs the headmaster has mentioned which require extensive work but cannot be completed under the limited time left to me”, he stated.

Free SHS
President Akufo-Addo also mentioned with pride how his government has sustained the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy, which has successfully driven education since 2017.

He said notwithstanding global economic challenges, the government has been resolute in providing the resources needed to improve Free SHS. “I am proud that, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and other hurdles, we have upheld and successfully implemented the Free SHS policy,” President Akufo-Addo said, while reaffirming his government’s dedication to ensuring that every Ghanaian child has access to quality education.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to free education for all Ghanaian students and will continue our efforts to make quality education accessible across the country,” he emphasized.
