The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has appealed to Ghanaians to pray for the Electoral Commission (EC) for God’s guidance in the execution of their mandate in the 2024 general elections.

This was when he submitted his nomination forms on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Dr Bawumia in the company of his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, their spouses and other party leaders presented his Presidential nomination forms to the EC for scrutiny and clearance.

This marks the first time a sitting Vice President has filed his nomination to contest the presidential election. Dr. Bawumia is also the first presidential nominee in this year’s elections to present his forms to the EC.

In his remarks, Dr. Bawumia said that the task on the head of the EC to conduct this year’s elections is a huge task, and that Ghanaians must pray for them as they spearhead the smooth running of the elections.

He also expressed confidence in the EC to conduct a free and fair election. The EC Chairperson, Jean Adukwei Mensa said that a special team has been set up to ensure that the candidates toed in line with the requirements, and has no doubt that the process will be done fairly.
