Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is currently in a hospital in the United Kingdom, but she is in good health, according to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications.

In an interview on Joy FM on May 5, Kwakye Ofosu stated, “As and when the doctors think that she is okay to come, I’m sure they will give the green light.”

He reassured the public, saying, “I know for a fact that she is well.”

Concerns
This assurance comes amid growing concerns regarding the government’s delay in issuing a formal statement about the Vice President’s health after she was flown abroad for emergency medical care.

On April 24, President John Dramani Mahama also confirmed to Ghanaians that she is in good health and will be returning to office very soon.

Background
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reportedly experienced a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, 2025, and sought medical attention at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the following day. The government noted that medical experts recommended the Vice President seek further treatment abroad as a precautionary measure to support her full recovery.
