Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged factions in the Bawku conflict to cooperate with him to achieve lasting peace in the area.

A statement issued by the Manhyia Palace on April 15 announced the resumption of mediation efforts, stating: “His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will reconvene talks with both parties from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, as previously agreed. The Asantehene calls on all stakeholders to work together to secure enduring peace for Bawku.”

Public reaction
Many Ghanaians have praised Otumfuo’s peacebuilding efforts on social media.
One user wrote: “The King Solomon of our time will once again use his wisdom to mediate and resolve this conflict. Thank you, Your Majesty.”

Another commented: “The wisdom of Otumfuo Osei Tutu Nyamekese will surely quench the flames of strife in Bawku.”
