The CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Kofi Baah Agyepong, has urged the government to employ YEA-trained and certified artisans in the Agenda 111 Priority Health Infrastructure Project.
Speaking at a graduation ceremony for the YEA Skills Training Programme in Techiman, Bono East Region, Agyepong emphasised the readiness of these artisans to contribute to Ghana’s development.
The Agenda 111 project, which aims to construct 111 hospitals across the nation, is a key part of President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access in every district and region.
Agyepong appealed to the government to prioritise the inclusion of these newly trained professionals in the project, highlighting the importance of utilising local talent.
“These skilled professionals are ready to contribute to the nation’s growth; we plead with government to immediately rope in these artisans onto all Agenda 111 projects,” he said.
“Let these young men and women be part of the hands that build their nation,” he added.
He also called for a policy ensuring that YEA-trained artisans are given priority in all government projects at the district level, urging the government to fully harness the skills of local workers.
“We are also pleading with government to institute a policy that ensures that all government projects in the district prioritise YEA-trained and certified artisans. We have to make good use of what we have,” he said.
