The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed that the party’s record in education is unmatched in the history of Ghana.

According to him, the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy alone has made education attractive adding that, the policy has not only increased enrollment but also improved the quality of education in terms of student performance.

Dr. Bawumia made these revelations during a stakeholder’s engagement at the Church of Pentecost, Kaneshie Central Assembly, in the Okaikwei South Constituency, as part of his tour in the Greater Accra Region where he met with community leaders, clergy and students.

“We have achieved gender parity and the performance in the SHS has improved. People were saying free SHS will reduce quality but the results of WASSCE exams in these past years have been impressive.

“The top three students in the whole of West Africa are from Ghana and this shows our standard has gone up. Gone were the days we didn’t have chalks in schools but now we are supplying tablets to every SHS student in the whole of Ghana,” he said.

The Vice President also reiterated his commitment to ensure improved agriculture under his tenure as President to boost food production and reduce the high cost of food in the market.
