Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has touted the record of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the cocoa sector, especially how cocoa farmers have been treated.
The NPP running mate said the party’s record in government regarding how cocoa farmers have fared remains unassailable. “This, coupled with our achievements in health, education, and the energy sectors, as well as the unparalleled vision of Dr Bawumia makes a compelling case to vote for the NPP on December 7,” Dr Prempeh, a.k.a. Napo asserted.
Speaking when the constituency-focused tour of the Bawumia 2024 campaign took the running mate to the Asunafo South constituency in the Ahafo Region on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Dr Prempeh said the NPP government has been faithful to cocoa farmers.
He urged the people to also vote for Aduse Poku as the next Member of Parliament for the constituency.
Dr Prempeh’s campaign took him to communities including Kwapong and Sankore where he also met traditional rulers and religious leaders.
Security
Touching on the security of the nation, Dr Prempeh urged the security agencies to be on the alert and deal decisively with real and potential troublemakers before, during, and after the elections.
The NPP running mate said the Ahafo area has been a hot spot, and therefore entreated the security agencies to stop anybody or group of people from engaging in acts that can disturb the peace being enjoyed.
He noted that Ghana has been recognized worldwide as an oasis of peace and stability, following the successful election of Presidents since 1992. With another general election approaching, the NPP running mate said it is incumbent on all to contribute in making the exercise peaceful.
Policies
Dr Prempeh stressed the need for political parties to sell their policies to the electorate rather than indulging in politics of insults. “Let us all be mindful that we have only one Ghana, which we must protect at all cost,“ he urged.
