Justin Frimpong Kodua, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has shown his disappointment in comments made by former President John Dramani Mahama.

Mr. Kodua criticized Mahama for remarks he believes are not suitable for a statesman.

During his campaign in the Greater Accra region on September 17, Mahama warned that anyone who does not concede power if the NDC wins the 2024 election would face consequences. He called for an end to any plans that might undermine the will of the Ghanaian people in the upcoming election.

In a response on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Kodua stated that Mahama’s comments were inappropriate for someone who has held the presidency.

He noted, “In Ghana, every former President is seen as a statesman, and their actions should reflect that. I don’t want to disrespect John Mahama, but his behavior is not fitting for the title. His statements are quite shocking.”

Justin Kodua also mentioned that the NPP does not aim to disrespect Mahama but finds his words troubling. He pointed out that Ghanaians are observing Mahama’s behavior closely. “Those around Mahama should remind him that former presidents should speak differently. I’m disappointed, but it’s good for Ghanaians to see who he really is,” he added.
