President John Dramani Mahama has signed the Book of Condolence for the late former Namibia President, Sam Nujoma.

Nujoma, the revolutionary leader who guided Namibia to independence from apartheid South Africa in 1990 and served as its first president for 15 years, died at 95 on February 8.

On Wednesday, February 19, President Mahama was at the Namibia High Commission in Accra to sign the Book of Condolence.

He wrote: “Liberation Comrade, you have truly fought a good fight, and now is the time for the faithful soldier to lay down his arm and take a rest.

“Namibia is truly grateful to you, and Africa is truly grateful to you for the dignity and freedom we enjoy as a people. Rest in peace, soldier, Sam Nujoma. Long live Africa and Namibia solidarity.”
