OSP Storms SML Offices, Arrests Three Directors in Contract Investigation

There was panic and confusion at the offices of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) on Monday, June 10, following a targeted raid by security operatives from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which led to the arrest of three company directors.

The operation, which was carried out under court orders, was supported by personnel from the National Security Secretariat.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the OSP is in the advanced stages of its investigation into the controversial contract between SML and the government.

Investigators are said to be particularly interested in accessing electronic data stored on the company’s servers as part of efforts to build a comprehensive case.

This development comes amid intensified scrutiny of the deal and the OSP’s broader efforts to hold individuals accountable for suspected financial irregularities.

The OSP’s pursuit of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta—believed to be connected to the SML matter—has stalled, with the Special Prosecutor recently declaring him a fugitive from justice.

In a statement released on Monday, June 9, the family of Ken Ofori-Atta accused the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) of abusing its powers in what it calls a “premeditated vendetta” against the former official.

The family condemned the issuance of an INTERPOL Red Notice and declared the OSP’s actions as violations of due process, constitutional rights, and international law.

They have formally petitioned both the National Central Bureau and the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) for the immediate deletion of the Red Notice, arguing that it was procured based on manipulated evidence and withheld medical information.
