Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown will fund the release of 47 inmates to mark her 47th birthday on 15 August 2024.

This was made known by Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, chief executive officer of the Crime Check Foundation, which is overseeing the initiative.

In a video that has gone viral, Oppong Kwarteng expressed admiration for Nana Ama McBrown’s generosity.

“Nana Ama McBrown will turn 47 on 15 August, and she will be funding the release of 47 prison inmates. I know whoever is watching this will be impressed and will say a prayer for her,” he said.

During the video, Oppong Kwarteng was seen with inmates at the Akuse Prison, one of the facilities set to benefit from McBrown’s initiative.

He further emphasised the importance of supporting prisoners, stating, “The Bible says we should draw near to the prisoners, be a source of encouragement to them, and share the good news, because being in prison is not a joke.”

Nana Ama’s involvement with the Crime Check Foundation was solidified earlier this year when she pledged her support during an appearance on the ‘McBrown Kitchen’ show in February 2024.

Moved by the foundation’s work, she vowed to contribute to their efforts.

The Crime Check Foundation, under Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng’s leadership, is known for its comprehensive approach to prisoner support, including providing educational opportunities, legal aid, and emotional support to facilitate inmates’ reintegration into society.
