The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to cut electricity costs by 50% through a proposed “One District, One Solar Farm” initiative if elected president.

Dr. Bawumia made this promise while on a campaign tour of the Atwima Kwanwoma, Kwadaso, and Bantama Constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

The initiative aims to harness solar energy to reduce reliance on conventional power sources and bring down electricity costs for residents and businesses across the country.

“My one district, one-solar farm initiative will reduce electricity costs by 50%.” Dr. Bawumia stated.

The Vice President of Ghana expressed concern over the high cost of electricity for businesses and households.

He explained that the high tariffs are primarily due to the reliance on expensive imported oil and gas for electricity generation.

In his engagements with various Stakeholders like the Traditional Leaders, Clergy, Imams, Youth, and the people of these constituencies, he enlightened them on the numerous benefits his game-changing policies will bring to the country to further enhance development.
Dr. Bawumia’s policies which comprise a bold and comprehensive plan to take Ghana to the next level of growth, with a focus on job creation, economic empowerment, and social development include, tax amnesty, training of 1,000,000 youth in IT skills, easy passport acquisition with the GhanaCard, introduction of solar and wind power on commercial bases, zero duty on solar panels, expansion of educational infrastructure, repositioning of Ghana’s education system towards STEM, AI, free tertiary education for persons living with disabilities, flat tax rate, a Minerals Development Bank, continuation of the free SHS and free TVET policies, among others.
