He said this in recognition of GRA’s Female Hockey Team winning the Africa Cup for Club Championship title in Ismailia, Egypt.
The Ghanaian side beat Egypt’s Smouha 3-0 to win the continental championship for the second year in a row and fifth time overall.
Speaking on the sidelines of the team’s trophy presentation to GRA Commissioner-General Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the GRA Head of Sports recognized the role top quality opposition in the Accra Hockey League has played in the team’s success.
“The league is up to standard. I think virtually everybody in the league wants to win so they give us the necessary competition. For all these years that we’ve won the African Cup, it is the same league that we compete in.”
In his address to the team, GRA Commissioner-General Anthony Sarpong, stated that winning the African title is success not just for GRA but for Ghana.
