Akufo-Addo will hand over to a man who is not corrupt and has never been investigated for corruption – NAPO

NPP presidential running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has vouched for the incorruptibility of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

He said President Akufo-Addo will be handing over to a man whose credibility is intact, with no questions on corruption hanging around his neck.

In a powerful speech at the launch of the NPP manifesto in Takoradi on Sunday that drew intermittent applause from the gathering, Dr Opoku Prempeh, widely known as Napo, said, “Nothing will make you happier than handing over your sword to Dr Bawumia on January 7, 2015.”

Integrity
In a veiled comparison of the integrity of Dr Bawumia and his main opponent, NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, Napo said while Dr Bawumia remains incorruptible, Mr. Mahama has credibility issues to deal with.

The running mate pledged his fullest support to Dr Bawumia. “I am committed to serving him loyally to ensure his vision is translated into action,“ he assured.

Man of Vision
Describing Dr Bawumia as a man of vision, Napo added, “He is humble but firm, affable, loyal, honest, a problem solver, a very hard worker, a go-getter, and a man of integrity. He is destined to take Ghana to the next level. I know Dr Alhaji Bawumia is not corrupt. He has never been accused of corruption, and his public life has never been tainted by corruption. He has never been investigated for corruption, and he will never be corrupted. You [Akufo-Addo] are handing over to an honourable man to continue the work. He promises that he is not going for any honeymoon.”

Man of the moment
Napo described Dr Bawumia as the man of the moment. “I’m a stronger believer in Dr Bawumia, I have worked with him more than many ever know. I believe in his ability and knowledge and surely, he’s the man of the moment. I’m committed to serving him loyally to ensure his vision is translated into a mission. “His vision is for a better, more prosperous Ghana.”

Western Region key
Napo further touched on the important place Western region holds in the fortunes of the NPP. He explained that apart from the party’s “mother regions” of Ashanti and Eastern regions, the Western Region comes next as the region that best pushes the NPP.

“I’ve gone to parts of the region, and I’m overwhelmed by the love of this region,” he added.
Turning to party members and supporters, Napo said, “Patriots we have a general election to win. And this general election we will win. With God, it is possible.”

Akufo-Addo Praised
The running mate also praised President Akufo-Addo for his great delivery. He said in the areas of education and energy where he served as minister, the Akufo-Addo government had delivered with distinction.

Napo asserted that while the naysayers said free SHS would not be possible, President Akufo-Addo proved them wrong. “In COVID-19 time we have the best results in WASSCE, 68 % A1s, and the best three students came from Ghana. That is delivery, that is leadership.

“In energy, you said no longer will Ghana have dumsor. Even under trying times, the lights have been on,” he said in praise of the President.
