For over 15 years, 4X4 stood as one of Ghana’s most dynamic and award-winning music groups. With their unique fusion of hip hop, Afrobeat, and hiplife, the trio carved a distinct space in the Ghanaian music industry, delivering crowd favorites like “World Trade Center”, “Waist and Power”, “Yesi Yesi”, and “London Bridge”.

Their infectious sound and energetic performances earned them multiple accolades and cemented their status as one of the finest groups to emerge in the 2000s.

However, fans hoping for a comeback will be disappointed to learn that the group won’t be reuniting.

Captain Planet, one of the founding members, recently addressed persistent fan inquiries about a possible reunion. In a post on social media, he stated plainly, “Massa, 4X4 will not be making a comeback. We’re too old to form a group again, like we’re Boys II Men.”

He clarified that while there may be moments when the members perform some of their timeless hits together, fans should not expect any new projects from the group. “Our job was done a long time ago. No More 4X4. We’re good as brothers. Just enjoy our old tunes,” he wrote.

Formed in 2000, 4X4 originally comprised Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey, popularly known as Captain Planet, and Russell Edem Avornyo, known as Coded. Prince Tamakloe, a.k.a. Fresh Prince, joined the group in 2007, adding new energy to the already vibrant duo. Together, they became known for pushing musical boundaries and consistently delivering chart-topping songs.

In recent years, each member has taken a different path. Captain Planet continues to release music as a solo artist, while Coded and Fresh Prince have ventured into individual projects and business initiatives.

Though 4X4 may no longer be active as a group, their contribution to Ghana’s music scene remains unmatched. Their songs continue to be celebrated, reminding fans of the golden era they helped shape.
